In the annals of history, there have been countless tales of the devil's deceptive prowess. The notion of a malevolent force working insidiously to manipulate and mislead entire nations has long been a staple of folklore, mythology, and religious texts. But for many, these stories remained just that – stories, passed down through generations as cautionary tales. After all, how could one entity possibly deceive an entire nation?
That was a question I, like many others, often pondered. The idea of such widespread deception seemed almost unfathomable. However, as we navigate the turbulent waters of the past couple of years – marked by COnVID lockdowns, authoritarian curfews, and a cascade of bewildering events – the veil of disbelief has been lifted, and I find myself no longer wondering.
In this age of the COnVID-19 pandemic, we have witnessed a startling transformation in our societies. Once, we prided ourselves on our freedoms, our sense of community, and our individual liberties. But as the plandemic gripped the world, a different narrative began to emerge.
Lockdowns, never enforced before and initially seen as temporary measures to curb the spread of the virus, extended indefinitely. Authoritarian curfews were imposed, restricting our movements and curtailing our freedoms in unprecedented ways. The very notion of community took a hit as fear and mistrust began to creep into our interactions. Neighbors turned on neighbors, and calling the police on one another became distressingly common thanks to wannabe tyrannical leaders.
Perhaps most tragically, our frail and elderly were left to die alone, their final moments devoid of the comfort of loved ones. It was a stark departure from the values of compassion and care that we once held dear.
