The Ballad Of Ned Kelly
Lyrics, Music and Vocals by Senator Papahatziharalambrous
Intro:
Come gather 'round, ye people, and listen to my tale,
Of a man who lived and died, and left a lasting trail,
His name was Edward Kelly, but Ned he was called,
And he roamed the Australian bush, both feared and adored.
Verse 1:
Born in Victoria, a son of Irish blood,
Ned was just a lad when he tasted the bitter mud,
His father died in prison, falsely accused and tried,
And Ned swore to avenge him, with every breath and stride.
Chorus:
Hero or Villain, you decide,
Edward or Ned Kelly - we all know his name,
Kill or be killed, it's not a bloody game,
He fought for his people, he fought for his name.
Verse 2:
He formed a gang of outlaws, his brother by his side,
And they robbed the rich to feed the poor, their hearts full of pride,
But the lawmen chased them down, with rifles and with hounds,
And Ned became a legend, in every town and shire.
Chorus:
Hero or Villain, you decide,
Edward or Ned Kelly - we all know his name,
Kill or be killed, it's not a bloody game,
He fought for his people, he fought for his name.
Verse 3:
In the end, he was captured, and sentenced to be hung,
But Ned faced his fate with courage, his spirit unbroken and strong,
He wrote his famous letter, to the people of his land,
And he died a hero's death, with a rope around his neck and his hand.
Chorus:
Hero or Villain, you decide,
Edward or Ned Kelly - we all know his name,
Kill or be killed, it's not a bloody game,
He fought for his people, he fought for his name.
Outro:
So raise your glasses high, and sing a song of praise,
To Ned Kelly, the Bushranger, who roamed these wild ways,
For he fought for justice, and he fought for his kind,
And his memory will live on, forever in our mind.
